5 and 6 May the 51st international road race will be organized at the Varsselring in Hengelo GLD. Organizer Hamove has put together a spectacular and full program. From the IRRC season opener, to world class riders in the sidecars and a nostalgic two-stroke class; everything will pass!

Organizer Hamove has again succeeded in presenting a beautiful program for their road racing event. There are fifteen races during the weekend of 5 and 6 May. With thirteen races on Sunday it will be a great day at the Varsselring. The following classes will start: IRRC Superbike, IRRC Supersport, BeNeCup Superbike, BeNeCup Supersport, ONK Sidecar, NK Classics, Camathias Cup and the 2-Stroke class. Besides a lot of action on the track, there is also plenty to experience outside the circuit. So it will be a nice day for everyone in Hengelo GLD!

Season opener for the Internationale Road Race Championship (IRRC)
The International Road Race Championship (IRRC) has become a very competitive championship and the main number of road races in Hengelo GLD. It makes it even more interesting that the event on the Varsselring is the first one of the calender. Every rider gets a new chance to prove himself. In 2018 we get also new champions in the Superbike and Supersport class. The IRRC Superbike champion Sebastien Le Grelle is no longer in the game.
Last year's strongest in the IRRC Supersport was Hamove member Joey den Besten and he made the switch within the Performance Racing Achterhoek team to the Superbike category. Ilja Caljouw has taken over Den Besten's seat in the IRRC Supersport. But also with Johan Fredriks, Marcel Zuurbier en Michael Hofman has the Hamove a number of fast member on the grid. This year belongs old Grand Prix rider Danny Webb also to the very strong field of the IRRC.

Eight world titles will start in the ONK Sidecar
No less than eight world titles will start in the ONK Sidecars. Seven-time world champion Tim Reeves is coming to the Varsselring and also the Dutch world champion from 2015 Bennie Streuer. Reeves and his passenger Mark Wilkes will ride in preparation for the Isle Man TT. It is likely that more foreign sidecars will come with the same goal to Hengelo GLD. Streuer will ride with Gerard Daalhuizen and his goal is to fight for the Dutch championship. He has a lot of competition with the constantly improving Dutch sidecars.

2-Stroke class and V-Ring Treffen again on the program
Last year, a 2-Stroke class was organized with great success during the 50th jubilee edition. The riders and the audience were wildly enthusiastic, so the Hamove has decided to punt this class again on the program in 2018. The delightful sound of 125cc, 250cc and 500cc two-stroke engines will be heard again in Hengelo GLD. The ‘caferacers’ with the V-Ring Treffen are also present. A nice collaboration between the Hamove and DutchCafeRacers, where the riders provide for entertainment on and off the track.

Plenty of fun and attractions in the paddock
As every year, there are plenty of activities in the paddock. Of course you can watch the riders and teams up close, there are merchandise stands, a stand with an electric superbike and you can watch the classic and modern bikes of the ‘caféracers’. Also for the children there activities with a bouncer and mini-cross track. On Saturday night there is plenty of fun with live music in the ‘Racingcafé’ and on Sundays the podium ceremonies and parc fermé can be visited by everyone.

Free entrance to the grandstand and we have a videowall
With the purchase of a ticket you can take a seat for free on the grandstands around the Varsselring. Live reports are made of all races by commentators who can be heard throughout the circuit. The visitors of the main grandstand have something extra, because they have a view of the videowall where images can be seen from various cameras around the circuit. It is also possible to follow the livetiming with an app on your phone. So you don’t have to miss anything of the races anymore!

Two days full of motorsports spectacle!
On Saturday 5 May are the qualifying sessions starting from 8.30 am. At the end of the afternoon races are held for the NK Classics and Camathias Cup. On raceday the first one starts at 9.00 am with a total of thirtheen races during the day. The price for a Sunday-ticket is 20 euros for adults.
